TMZ.com is reporting the The O.C.’s Mischa Barton has been arrested for a DUI. She was evidently pulled over around 3am and is still in jail being held on a $10,000 bail. She has been making appearances promoting her new film Closing The Ring which is coming out tomorrow. I’m beginning to think we need a new DUI category.

Katherine Heigl married Josh Kelley at a ceremony yesterday (December 23rd) in Utah. They met in 2005 when Heigl appeared in the video for Kelley’s “Only You.” People has the story and is reporting that they were married at the Stein Eriksen Lodge in Park City, Utah. They were married by Tom Goldsmith, a Unitarian minister, and Heigl walked down the aisle to a song written by the groom himself. Of course, reports are the members of the Grey’s Anatomy cast were in attendance for the ceremony.
Congratulations to the happy couple.
Comedy Central confirmed yesterday that The Daily Show With Jon Stewart will return to air on January 7th. The Colbert Report will return that night as well, both without their WGA writers. We’ve already heard this announcement for Leno and Letterman but I believe it’s easier to pull of in their formats by just increasing celebrity interviews and musical guests. With these two Comedy Central shows, there is a lot depending on the scripted pieces that go on surrounding the few interviews.
Colbert and Steward released a joint statement yesterday:
We would like to return to work with our writers. If we cannot, we would like to express our ambivalence, but without our writers we are unable to express something as nuanced as ambivalence.
I don’t know. These guys are still funny just on their own. If handled properly, the shows will continue to entertain. Maybe not to the level as they did before, but I think their loyal late-night viewers will stick with them regardless.
One thing about BBC programming, most people either love it all, or hate it all. Although I haven’t seen a lot of the more popular shows from the BBC, the ones I’ve seen I love. My most recent discovery is Torchwood and I looked forward to every Season 1 airing the last few months. As soon as we saw the finale of that season, I began to wonder when the next would start since it is already into Season 3 in the UK. Well, my question has been answered along with a preview for the upcoming Season 2, premiering January 26th.

The Ausiello Report is giving me some very bad news to wrap up the year. Evidently, the Series Finales of both The Dead Zone and The 4400 happened last season as the shows are not getting picked up. Now, The Dead Zone was a show I only watched part of the time, but The 4400 is one of my summer staples! I love that show and I was really looking forward to seeing where this next season would take us. Now I can add this to the list of shows I truly felt were canceled before their time.
Holy Moley. Nickelodeon’s Zoey 100, aka Jamie Lynn Spears, aka Britney’s sister is pregnant. What is it with that family and unplanned pregnancies? I mean - I’m not one to judge - but seriously? Granted, Jamie Lynn has always seemed like the more stable of the sisters, but seriously?
Nickelodeon issued the following statement this afternoon: “We respect Jamie Lynn’s decision to take responsibility in this sensitive and personal situation. We know this is a very difficult time for her and her family, and our primary concern right now is for Jamie Lynn’s well being.”
The father is some guy named Casey who she met at church. The fact that he doesn’t seem to be in the “business” may be the silver lining to all of this. Let’s hope he’s some normal guy and has a normal family so this can unfold with a lot less drama that the first version.

In a move that TV watchers will surely debate for months, ABC has decided to move it’s fragile serial drama Lost from Wednesdays to Thursdays this season. For a show that teetered on the edge of failure last season, losing viewers consistently during the first half of the year only to stabilize towards the end, this could be a risky move. Typically, scheduling changes equal a loss in viewership. However, Lost will now be pitted against C.S.I. (should there even be new episodes) instead of the FOX hit American Idol. So, in this case? It could be a smart move. Only time will tell.

It looks like NBC is going to bring some of the USA Originals over to network television this season to compensate for the lack of scripted programming during the WGA strike. The cable hits Monk and Psych are going to visit the Peacock this srping. They will continue to air the new episodes on the USA Network in January, but come March, NBC will air the shows on Sunday nights. These twisted variety detective shows could be a good match for the formulaic detective programming NBC usually airs in the Law & Order franchise.
Just a quick note to say Leno has responded to the NBC announcement bringing back The Tonight Show in January.
“This has been a very difficult six weeks for everybody affected by the writers strike. I was, like most people, hoping for a quick resolution when this began. I remained positive during the talks and while they were still at the table discussing a solution “The Tonight Show” remained dark in support of our writing staff. Now that the talks have broken down and there are no further negotiations scheduled I feel it’s my responsibility to get my 100 non-writing staff, which were laid off, back to work. We fully support our writers and I think they understand my decision.”
return to their talk shows with new airings on January 2nd. There is no word yet whether this announcement indicates a deal made with the WGA or how the show will return without writers.
“Both Jay and Conan have supported their writers during the first two months of this WGA (Writers Guild of America) strike and will continue to support them,” said Rick Ludwin, executive vice president, late night and primetime series for NBC. “However, there are hundreds of people who will be able to return to work as a result of Jay’s and Conan’s decision.”
No word yet from the WGA about these announcements.
Worldwide Pants is David Letterman’s production company and produces both The Late Show with David Letterman as well as The Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson. Wordwide Pants has decided to offer up negotiations outside of the AMPTP to try to get writers back on the show and the shows back in production. This has been met with positive response from the reporting members of the WGA as it is a sign of progress and hopefully we’ll hear word on how the negotiations go sometime today. If they go well, it could motivate other groups to function independently of the AMPTP and we might see more shows back on the air after the new year.

I finally picked back up with Lost towards the last half of last season. I had given up on it for awhile because I had grown so frustrated. But - following the advice of others assuring me it was getting good again - I started watching about 5 episodes from the end. And of course, I got hooked all over again. Which is why the trailer for the upcoming season has me very happy.
I’m loving these YouTube contributions to the WGA Strike reporting.
According to Kristin at E!, Journey man has gotten the ax. There appear to be two un-aired episodes left, but the fate of those two shows are up in the air. No word on whether or not they’ll air at all.
I’ll admit, I couldn’t get into the show. I know a lot of people who did, but I just couldn’t. I did try though, and in memory of shows I’ve been sad to see go before their time (Arrested Development, Veronica Mars, and Joan of Arcadia) - I will be sad for a few seconds for the fans of Journeyman. It’s a deep wound that is left by a canceled show you love - I know.
I’m taking this stuff way too seriously again, aren’t I?
Well, it looks like TV’s former “Dark Angel” and the current big screen hit Jessica Alba is pregnant. This comes as a shock to me since the tabloids usually guess for a month about these things before they’re actually confirmed. However, I’ve not heard anything this time. Which either means she has done a good job keeping it hidden, or it’s a load of crap. Who knows.
The father is boyfriend Cash Warren. They split up for a short while before getting back together. No word yet on their plans as a couple or how far along she is. What do you think? Real or Rumor?
Update: It has been officially confirmed and she is due “Next Summer” which means she’s barely pregnant.
Last night’s episode was tough for me because on one hand: I’m rooting for a few people on the Black Team and still a little bitter with Neil from Week 7. On the other hand: I love Bob. So, I was torn. I honestly couldn’t root against Neil, no matter how much I wanted to, because he was all Bob has left. I just hate to see a Bob-less finale.
Luckily, the decision was made for me. I really didn’t want to see Neil win, no matter ho much I love Bob. And now that he’s gone, I can openly root for any of the three girls left and honestly not be upset if any of them win. I don’t want Bill to win, because I’m really pulling for a girl.
And seriously? Was it just me or did last night’s episode seem way more emotional than the past seasons? Maybe it was the Underdog thing - but I was bawling my eyes out the entire time.
Maybe I shouldn’t admit that kind of thing?
